Details
Atlas feels lost and, in a final attempt to get her life back on track, joins a trail restoration program in the Western Sierras. The exhausting work helps distract her from memories of her father, who loved the area before cancer took him.
On the trail, real names are banned, so Atlas becomes Maps and bonds with teammates Books, Sugar, Junior, and King. As she lets down her defenses, she finds these strangers understand her in ways others haven't, but as the program nears its end, she dreads returning to her old life and leaving behind her new connections, especially King, who has become more than a friend.
