Eleven-year-old Roya, the superintendent's kid in her Brooklyn apartment building, knows all the residents and secretly hosts a podcast about their lives as she dreams of becoming a reporter. It's a welcome distraction from her own problems.

When her favorite tenant, Katya Petrov, suddenly disappears, Roya uncovers a strange link to Grandmother's Predictions, a fortune-telling machine at Coney Island tied to past Petrov family disappearances. With help from a new friend, Roya sets out to find Katya and uncover the truth behind the curse.
